Hay-on-Wye bookshops 📚📸

Documenting in photographs some of the current bookshops in Hay-on-Wye, Powys, the world’s first town of books.

Richard Booth’s Bookshop

A charming, historic bookshop named Richard Booth offers secondhand and new books in a quaint, traditional building with large display windows. A stone plaque embedded in the pavement in front of a red door reads Richard Booth World’s Largest Secondhand Bookshop. A cozy bookstore with wooden floors and beams showcases a large variety of books displayed on tables and shelves lining the walls.

Hay Cinema Bookshop

A book buying center and bookshop named hay cinema bookshop is located in a somewhat industrial area with parked cars and a large leafless tree nearby. A brick building with signs reading hay cinema bookshop and neon OPEN signs at the entrance is viewed from across a small outdoor area with benches and trees.
