Andrei Rublev, 1966 - ★★★★

I’ve seen Tarkovsky’s other six films, some more than once. Now I’ve come to Andrei Rublev and of all of them I found this the most difficult to watch. The setting and subjects are just completely unfamiliar to me. Visually impressive and interesting to watch but I needed to refer to a plot synopsis quite a lot to understand events in the film. I’m sure I’ll watch it again - I need to 🫤
